For Writers & Readers: Historical Fiction Redefined
About This Event
<p>Join author Kay Smith-Blum to discuss craft, research and her writer’s journey leading to her debut novel <a id="ember5884" data-add-title-link="2199464121" href="/item/show/2199464121">Tangles</a>. Winner of many awards including Book of the Year by the Literary Global Book Awards, Tangles is a fast-paced, character-driven tale that defies genre, mixing elements of suspense, thriller, and romance to create a page-turning read. Kay Smith-Blum dives deep into the craft behind the book, revealing techniques on authenticity, snappy dialogue and how dual narrative can build suspense. </p> <p>Kay Smith-Blum, a former fashionista and Seattle School Board President, is a fan of mid-20th-century history albeit debunking its tropes as she writes. As a sunrise writer, she has lived in Seattle for four decades and works out her writer’s block in her sons’ gardens and the nearest lap pool.</p> <p><a href="https://www.sno-isle.org/contact-us/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Contact us with questions</a></p> <p><a href="https://www.sno-isle.org/faq/programs-events/?_ga=2.117964937.1624198399.1690305271-856902110.1690305271&_gl=1*1ooagxo*_ga*ODU2OTAyMTEwLjE2OTAzMDUyNzE.*_ga_G99DMMNG39*MTY5MDMwNTI3MS4xLjEuMTY5MDMwNjk1Mi4wLjAuMA.." target="_blank">Programs & Events FAQs</a><br></p> <p>To <strong><a href="https://askus.sno-isle.org/widget_standalone.php?la_widget_id=15536" target="_blank">request a sign language interpreter</a></strong>, complete this <a href="https://askus.sno-isle.org/widget_standalone.php?la_widget_id=15536" target="_blank">online form</a> or <a href="https://sno-isle.bibliocommons.com/locations/?_ga=2.167347966.1741286699.1659972435-363119640.1615934079&ct=YTo1OntzOjY6InNvdXJjZSI7YToyOntpOjA7czo1OiJlbWFpbCI7aToxO2k6ODI7fXM6NToiZW1haWwiO2k6ODI7czo0OiJzdGF0IjtzOjIyOiI2MmYyYjM2ODUwZDU5Nzc3MzEyMTQ5IjtzOjQ6ImxlYWQiO3M6NjoiMzc4MDk1IjtzOjc6ImNoYW5uZWwiO2E6MTp7czo1OiJlbWFpbCI7aTo4Mjt9fQ%3D%3D" target="_blank" title="https://sno-isle.bibliocommons.com/locations/?_ga=2.167347966.1741286699.1659972435-363119640.1615934079&ct=yto1ontzojy6innvdxjjzsi7ytoyontpoja7czo1oijlbwfpbci7atoxo2k6odi7fxm6ntoizw1hawwio2k6odi7czo0oijzdgf0ijtzojiyoii2mmyyyjm2oduwzdu5nzc3mzeymtq5ijtzojq">contact your local library</a> at least two weeks prior to the library event.
